Horror comes in many forms. It can be the fear of the unknown with ghosts and monsters, or very real fears such as serial killers and kidnappers. Or it could even be horror in the form of not knowing a major test is happening the next day till the night before.
Jordan Peele’s Us has Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) experiencing a whole new kind of fear when a group of strangers, who they refer to as ‘The Tethered”, pays a visit to the beachfront home she and her husband Gabriel (Winston Duke) have decided to take them and their kids, Jason (Evan Alex) and Zora (Shahadi Wright Joseph), to spend a holiday in. Only, when the masks The Tethered are wearing comes off, they find out that the strangers are doppelgangers that have taken on the appearance of a different family member.
Here is a brief synopsis of Us:
Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen to her family. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, each stranger takes the appearance of a different family member.
