In this day and age of phablets, the distinguishing factors between competitors continue to blur the lines. It is definitely harder to stand out in a crowded market of high-end and great performing smartphones. That said, Chinese electronics manufacturer OPPO is firing the first warning shot in 2017 with its release of the R9s Plus today in Singapore.

Available at a retail price of S$779, interested consumers will be able to get their hands on the Gold version right now. Subsequently, the Black version will be released on March 3rd, the first Black edition to hit Singapore for OPPO’s ‘R’ series.

This 6-inch camera powerhouse packs an “exclusive 1/2.8-inch IMX398 sensor jointly-developed with with Sony, Dual PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) technology, and an extra-wide f/1.7 aperture on its rear camera.” Furthermore, the R9s Plus gets a software upgrade over its predecessor, with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus) ensuring your shots remain perfectly clear even when your hands are shaky or there is motion, perfect for those on the move! You also have less to fear from flash photography as the R9s Plus uses a dual-tone LED flash to enhance white balance and warmth of photos.

Here are the rest of the nitty-gritty details about this exciting new product:

With more onboard power, increased RAM, and a large storage capacity with room for external solutions, the OPPO R9s sets the bar high for other smartphones to match, and we are really excited to see what else lies in store for us in 2017.
