Now that the sequel is upon us, let’s refresh your brains with the who’s who of Marvel’s space-faring Cinematic Universe!

Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt)

The hero, the main man, the debonair leader of the Guardians. Now officially half-human, half-alien, we will soon learn of his father, a giant (ahem) presence in the sequel.

Gamora (Zoe Saldana)

Thanos’ adopted daughter, the once personal assassin of the big, blue guy is Star-Lord’s sortof love interest, and one of the best fighters on the team. She is set to cross paths with Nebula once more, and hopefully the relationship will develop more than just clashing blades.

Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista)

One of the best characters from the MCU, Drax’s deadpan humour is a standout feature of the Guardians and looks set to continue. Another big hitter, Drax will bring the brute force and a equally strong sense of humour to the proceedings.

Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper)

Master of weapons and tactics, one part of the dynamic tag-team that is Groot and Rocket, this bounty hunter will bring the big guns and be the foil to the other members of the team. We really enjoyed his banter with Star-Lord, and are looking forward to even more this time around!

Baby Groot (Vin Diesel)

How the mighty has shrunk! Now more goofy, naive, and ultimately rambunctious, Baby Groot no longer has his original memories, and we will be along for the ride as we watch him grow and become the all-new Groot.

Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker)

The one-time antagonist turned ally, the original father figure to Peter Quill has quit the Ravagers and joined up with the Guardians. With a larger head fin, and his trusty yaka arrow, he looks even more like his comic counterpart.

Nebula (Karen Gillan)

“Sister” to Gamora, another adopted daughter of Thanos, we last saw her rejecting Gamora’s helping hand and escaping. In the sequel, we will learn more about the pair’s relationship and what led to the present.

Mantis (Pom Klementieff)

Raised by Ego, Mantis is the newest addition to the Guardians team. She comes packing empathic powers, and is hilariously socially awkward, a perfect pairing with Drax.

Ego (Kurt Russell)

Famously known as Ego the Living Planet (!), he takes humanoid form and is finally revealed as the father of Star-Lord (!!). The greater mystery surrounding him and Peter Quill will likely form the main tenet of the film.

Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki)

The main big bad of the film, Ayesha is the golden High Priestess, leader of the Sovereign, and is a heroine and artificial being in the comics (Kismet), we are very interested to find out how James Gunn’s take on this character will be.

Stakar Ogord / Starhawk (Sylvester Stallone)

We are not sure of the origins of movie Starhawk, but we do know he is a lifelong and high-ranking Ravager with a history with Yondu. Surely his comic origins as Ayesha’s son will come into play?

All these stars, and even more cameos and appearances by many others, we are beyond excited for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2., as should you! Catch it in theatres next week!
